Downloading and Installing DXLab Applications
Full releases and development releases |
All DXLab applications are produced using a software engineering process known as iterative development, characterized by frequent releases; these releases are referred to as development releases. Every few months, a stable development release is used to create a full release containing all software and documentation components. To facilitate rapid evaluation, development releases are lightweight, containing only those components that have changed since the most recent full release. If you are installing a DXLab application on a PC for the first time, you must first install the most recent full release. After installing a full release, you can obtain all subsequent defect repairs and feature additions by upgrading to the most recent development release. |

The table below contains hyperlinks to self-extracting update files containing the most recent development release. To install a development release for a DXLab application, save the update file in a temporary folder, and extract its contents into the existing application folder; to run a development release, double-click on its executable file in the application folder. |

Availability announcements |
New releases of DXLab applications are announced on the DXLab email reflector, an open forum that you are encouraged to join. This reflector plays a major role in driving the development of DXLab -- suggestions are refined, alternatives are considered, and releases are critiqued; the result is a powerful flow of ideas whose implementation benefits all participants. The most recent development release of each DXLab application is also available via the DXLab reflector's file area. |
